Devlog #7: Refinements


This week, we focused on minor refinements for the next playtest based on feedback we received after the alpha build.

Vignette bar

One of the criticisms we received from players was that blacking out the screen as the shadow timer decreases is an ineffective way of demonstrating the limited shadow time. To fix this, we have added a vignette health bar.

Brightness change

The darkness of the screen was a concern raised by players, especially for those with visual impairments. We have added an option to adjust the darkness of shadows in the settings page. Shadows can now be 0.2 times as dark as before!


Pause menu

While playing through levels, players will now be able to pause. The pause menu has several buttons for returning to menu, quitting and allows players to look at controls should they need to refamiliarize themselves.


In progress – tutorial playground

For demonstration purposes, we are working on a tutorial playground that allows players to experience game mechanics in a low stakes setting. 


That’s all for this week! Looking forward, we intend to finish Level 3 and continue to polish the game. We can’t wait to show you what we have built!
